A new entry in the Ghost Recon series is reportedly in the works at Ubisoft.
According to Kotaku, sources informed them that a new Ghost Recon game with the working title, OVER, has been in development for over a year at Ubisoft’s Paris studio and the release of the game could come as early as 2023.
This comes on the heels of the announcement that Ghost Recon Breakpoint would no longer be receiving updates in the future. The official Ghost Recon Twitter handle tweeted a final message regarding Breakpoint. The developers said: “The last four months marked the release of our final piece of content: the brand new Operation Motherland mode, tons of new items including 20th anniversary iconic outfits and Quartz items for Ghost Recon Breakpoint”.

However, despite the fact that the game would no longer be receiving new updates, its servers would continue to run as usual for players who still want to enjoy the game.
Ghost Recon Breakpoint has had a less than stellar lifespan after receiving overwhelmingly negative reviews when it launched in 2017. It was panned by critics and fans for its heavy loot grind systems, among other things. This resulted in the studio working diligently to fix the game and change many of its mechanics in an effort to win back the fans of the franchise.

Let’s hope this upcoming entry in the popular tactical-shooter franchise will avoid all of the mistakes that plagued Breakpoint’s launch.
